Long ago, four warrior clans were forced to make the long and dangerous journey that resulted in the deaths of many cats, and eventually led them to settle into what came to be known as the new camps. As the generations went on the warriors felt more and more like they had always existed in these new territories, and the old tales began to fade, though the names forever held their influence.
All was well in the clans until another great battle, somewhat akin to that which occurred between lionclan and tigerclan, reared its ugly head, and in the chaos a small group of cats consisting of warriors from each of the four clans banded together and raised their voices, trying to end the bloodshed. When at last the battles ended, the piece lasted only long enough for the four clans to turn on the group, labeling them traitors to the clans and the warrior code, and chase them from the land, spitting threats and curses all the way.
Banished and alone, the band trekked over hill and vale, appalled at the savagery of their clans, and as they traveled lone cats, and others driven from their own clans and tribes, came to join the band, following in the pawsteps of the four who had always stood at their head, and who had first raised their voices against the fighting.
Finally, after many long seasons of travel, the band- now far larger than ever before – reached a new land; a haven where they could start over, away from the savagery that had struck their old clans. The four leaders of the band agreed that four must be withheld for Starclan to follow them, and so they split the lands between themselves and stepped out to make new clans and camps for themselves.
Some cats, the leanest and fastest, chose to follow Barkclaw, deputy of Windclan, and together they created Iceclan. Others, swimmers and fishers, followed Silverfang, warrior of Riverclan, and created Waterclan. The most aggressive decided to walk with the powerful Shadowclan she-cat Nightfur, naming their clan in honor of her, and those best suited to the forest life stepped out with Dustpaw, apprentice of Thunderclan, and stood behind her as the cats of Treeclan.
Now the four founders and their followers are long gone, but Starclan did follow them to their new home, and even now the new clans thrive under their guidance, ensuring that the events that caused their creation are never forgotten.
But some times, the Whispers of the Past can have a greater impact on the present than anyone expects...........
